Living in Panama Pacifico Panama: A Beautiful Master-Planned Community

Living in Panama Pacifico Panama: A Master-Planned Community | Panama With Shevy

Considering living in Panama Pacifico? If you’ve been researching where to live in Panama, you may have come across Panama Pacifico. One of the most talked-about master-planned communities near Panama City.

For many people considering a move to Panama, the big question is usually this:

Can I live somewhere that feels organized, safe, green, and family-friendly, while still being close to Panama City?

That is exactly why Panama Pacifico has been getting so much attention.

Located on the west side of the Panama Canal, Panama Pacifico offers a different lifestyle from the busy downtown areas of Panama City. It is quieter, more spacious, and designed as a planned community with residential neighborhoods, schools, businesses, green spaces, shops, restaurants, and essential services all within the area.

It is not the right fit for everyone, but for the right person or family, it can be one of the most attractive places to live in Panama.

Before thinking about living in Panama Pacifico, here are some things you should consider first.

Where Is Panama Pacifico Located?

Panama Pacifico is located in the district of Arraiján, on the west side of the Panama Canal, near the former Howard Air Force Base.

It sits just across the Bridge of the Americas from Panama City, which makes it convenient for people who want to live outside the city but still have access to it when needed.

Depending on traffic and where you are going, Panama Pacifico can be around 20 to 30 minutes from parts of Panama City. It also offers access to the Pan-American Highway, making it easier to travel toward the beaches, the interior of Panama, or other areas of Panama Oeste.

For many residents, the appeal is that Panama Pacifico feels removed from the noise and congestion of the city, but not completely disconnected from it.

What Makes Panama Pacifico Different?

Panama Pacifico is not just one residential neighborhood. It is a large master-planned development that combines residential, commercial, educational, and business spaces.

The official Panama Pacifico master plan includes a strong focus on nature, sustainability, infrastructure, and long-term community development. According to Panama Pacifico, the area includes 1,400 hectares dedicated to natural spaces, with 600 hectares preserved for flora and fauna conservation. (Panamá Pacífico)

That is one of the reasons the area feels different from many parts of Panama City. You will see more open space, greenery, parks, sidewalks, and a stronger sense of planning.

Instead of feeling like the area grew randomly, Panama Pacifico was designed with the idea of creating a more organized place to live, work, study, and spend time outdoors.

Types of Homes in Panama Pacifico

One of the reasons people are drawn to living in Panama Pacifico is the variety of housing options.

You can find:

  • Apartments/Condos (perfect for investment)
  • Townhomes
  • Duplexes
  • Villas
  • Single-family homes
  • Gated residential communities

This makes the area appealing to different types of buyers and renters, including young professionals, couples, families, retirees, remote workers, and investors.

Some people prefer living in Panama Pacifico because they want a more modern residential setting without being in a high-rise city environment. Others like the idea of living in a community where many daily needs are close by.

If you are looking for more space, greenery, and a quieter lifestyle than downtown Panama City, Panama Pacifico may be worth considering.

Is Panama Pacifico Good for Families?

Yes, Panama Pacifico can be a strong option for families, especially those who want access to schools, outdoor areas, and a more residential environment.

The area has several schools and educational institutions nearby. Panama Pacifico’s official education hub highlights bilingual and international school options, including Lycée Français International, St. Mary’s, TRAIL, Howard Academy, and Magen David Academy. (Panamá Pacífico)

For families relocating to Panama, school location is often one of the biggest factors when choosing where to live. Panama Pacifico gives families the option of living close to schools without necessarily being in the middle of Panama City.

The area also has parks, sidewalks, bike-friendly spaces, and residential communities where children can have more room to move around.

For parents who prefer a quieter lifestyle with more outdoor space, living in Panama Pacifico can feel like a refreshing alternative to the busier city neighborhoods.

Amenities and Daily Convenience

One of the benefits of living in Panama Pacifico is that it is designed to be more self-contained than many other residential areas.

Within the community, you can find access to:

  • Supermarkets
  • Restaurants and cafés
  • Pharmacies
  • Schools
  • Health services
  • Gyms
  • Banks
  • Beauty services
  • Pet services
  • Parks and recreational spaces
  • Business and office areas

Panama Pacifico’s official community page describes the area as having essential services, including stores, restaurants, educational institutions, and health services within the community. (Panamá Pacífico)

This does not mean you will never need to leave the area, but it does make daily life more convenient.

For people who work remotely, have children, or simply prefer not to drive across the city for every little thing, this can be a major advantage.

A Greener Lifestyle Close to the City

One of the things that stands out most about living in Panama Pacifico is the amount of greenery.

Unlike some areas of Panama City where the buildings are close together and traffic can feel overwhelming, Panama Pacifico has more open space, trees, walking areas, and a stronger connection to nature.

This is a big part of the area’s appeal.

You can live close enough to Panama City for work, errands, or appointments, but still come home to a calmer environment.

For people who enjoy walking, biking, spending time outside, or simply living somewhere that feels less congested, Panama Pacifico offers a lifestyle that can be hard to find in the city.

Is Panama Pacifico Walkable?

Panama Pacifico is more walkable than many areas outside Panama City, especially within certain residential and commercial sections.

There are sidewalks, green areas, parks, and spaces designed for outdoor activity. However, whether you can live fully without a car depends on your exact location, lifestyle, and daily routine.

Some residents may still prefer having a car, especially if they need to commute into Panama City often or visit other parts of Panama Oeste.

So while Panama Pacifico has walkable elements, I would not describe it as a place where everyone can comfortably live car-free.

It is better to think of it as a planned community with more pedestrian-friendly features than many other suburban-style areas in Panama.

Who Is Panama Pacifico Best For?

Panama Pacifico may be a good fit for:

  • Families with children
  • Remote workers
  • Professionals who want a quieter home base
  • Retirees who prefer a planned community
  • People who want more greenery and space
  • Buyers looking for newer residential options
  • Investors interested in a growing area
  • People who want to be near Panama City but not directly in it

It may also appeal to people who like the idea of living in a community where residential areas, schools, services, and businesses are all part of one larger plan.

For someone moving from North America or the Caribbean, Panama Pacifico may feel familiar in some ways because of the layout, green spaces, and community planning.

Who May Not Love Living In Panama Pacifico?

As nice as Panama Pacifico is, it is not for everyone.

You may not love it if you want:

  • A very urban lifestyle
  • Immediate access to nightlife
  • A high-rise city feel
  • Metro access right outside your door
  • The fastest possible commute into downtown Panama City
  • To be surrounded by the energy of the city every day

If your ideal lifestyle is walking to rooftop bars, being near the Cinta Costera, or living in the middle of Panama City’s restaurant and nightlife scene, areas like San Francisco, El Cangrejo, Avenida Balboa, Punta Pacifica, or Costa del Este may be a better fit.

Panama Pacifico is better suited for people who want calm, space, greenery, and a more residential feel.

What About Traffic?

This is something important to consider.

Panama Pacifico is close to Panama City, but it is still on the west side of the canal. Depending on the time of day, traffic crossing into the city can be heavy (usually during peak hours).

If you need to commute into Panama City every morning and return during peak hours, you should test the drive before deciding to live there.

For remote workers, retirees, families with schools nearby, or people who do not need to commute daily, this may be less of an issue.

But if your job, school, or daily activities are mainly in downtown Panama City, traffic should definitely be part of your decision.

Is Panama Pacifico Good for Real Estate Investment?

Panama Pacifico is one of the areas that continues to attract interest from both local and foreign buyers.

The area has a mix of residential communities, corporate offices, schools, services, and long-term development plans. That combination can make it appealing for people looking at real estate from both a lifestyle and investment perspective.

Because it is a planned community with ongoing growth, some buyers see Panama Pacifico as a long-term opportunity.

However, as with any real estate purchase in Panama, you should look carefully at the specific property, developer, price, maintenance fees, rental demand, resale potential, and your personal goals before making a decision.

Not every property in a good area is automatically a good investment.

Renting vs. Buying in Panama Pacifico

If you are new to Panama, renting first may be a smart way to experience Panama Pacifico before buying.

Renting allows you to see:

  • How the commute works for you
  • Whether you like the lifestyle
  • Which section of the community you prefer
  • How convenient the amenities feel
  • Whether the area fits your family’s routine
  • How often you actually need to go into Panama City

Buying can make sense if you already know the area works for your lifestyle and you are confident about your long-term plans in Panama.

For my relocation clients, I usually recommend exploring different neighborhoods in person before making a major decision. Panama can look very different online compared to how it feels when you are actually driving around, visiting communities, and seeing the day-to-day lifestyle.

Living in Panama Pacifico vs. Panama City

Panama Pacifico and Panama City offer very different lifestyles.

Panama City is more urban, active, and convenient for people who want to be close to restaurants, malls, hospitals, offices, nightlife, and the waterfront.

Panama Pacifico is quieter, greener, more spacious, and more community-focused.

If you want city energy, Panama City may be the better fit.

If you want a calmer environment with more space and a planned community feel, Panama Pacifico may be more appealing.

The best choice depends on your lifestyle, budget, family needs, commute, and long-term plans.

Final Thoughts on Living in Panama Pacifico: Is Panama Pacifico a Good Place to Live?

Panama Pacifico is one of the most interesting areas to consider if you are thinking about moving to Panama.

It offers a mix of modern housing, green spaces, schools, services, security, and community planning that you do not find everywhere in the country.

For families, remote workers, retirees, and buyers who want a quieter lifestyle near Panama City, it can be a very attractive option.

However, it is important to visit in person, understand the commute, compare it with other areas, and decide whether the lifestyle truly fits you.

Panama Pacifico is not just about buying or renting a home. It is about choosing a different pace of life. One that feels more organized, residential, and connected to nature while still keeping you within reach of Panama City.
